Information we collect

  • Contact details you provide, such as your name, email address and telephone number.
  • Billing and delivery addresses, order details, products purchased, payment status, refunds and exchanges.
  • Account information, including login details and account preferences, if you register.
  • Messages and information you send when asking about a product, an order or a complaint.
  • Technical information about website use, such as IP address, browser and device details, pages viewed and security logs. Google Analytics can also collect online identifiers and information about visits and interactions.

We obtain this information from you, your use of the website and service providers involved in your order, such as payment and delivery providers. Please do not send passwords or full payment-card details by email.

Why we use your information

  • Orders, delivery, payments, refunds and exchanges: to enter into and perform our contract with you. We need the relevant contact, payment and address details to fulfil an order.
  • Customer accounts and enquiries: to provide the service you request or take steps before entering a contract; for general enquiries, our legitimate interest in answering questions and providing customer service.
  • Accounts, tax and other legal duties: to comply with legal obligations.
  • Website security, fraud prevention, dispute handling and essential administration: our legitimate interests in protecting customers and the business and operating a reliable service. We consider the impact on your privacy.
  • Google Analytics: to understand website use and improve the website, using consent for optional analytics tracking. You can decline or withdraw that consent.

Cookies and Google Analytics

The website uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as keeping a basket, maintaining a login and securing a session. Blocking these may prevent some shopping or account functions from working.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the website. Depending on the configuration, it can process cookie or device identifiers, pages viewed, interactions and approximate location derived from technical information. Google provides this service and may process information outside the UK. See Google’s privacy policy and Google Analytics data information.

Optional analytics tracking requires your consent. You have the right to refuse or withdraw consent without affecting your ability to place an order. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser; deleting a cookie alone may not prevent it being set again. For help changing your analytics choice, contact us. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Who receives your information

We share information as needed with providers of website hosting and maintenance, email delivery, payment processing, order delivery and accounting or professional advice. Google receives analytics information where that tracking is enabled with your consent. Payment details are processed by the payment provider chosen at checkout; we receive the order and transaction information needed to administer the purchase. The payment options actually offered are shown at checkout. See the privacy notice of your chosen provider for its own processing, including fraud checks.

Providers may act on our instructions or, for some activities such as payment processing, as independent controllers under their own privacy notices. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.

International processing

Some providers, including Google and payment providers, may process personal information outside the UK. Transfers must have a lawful basis under UK data protection law, such as applicable adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your data.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as needed for its purpose. For order and financial records, the period is determined by applicable tax and accounting duties and the time needed to handle returns, disputes or legal claims. Account information is retained while needed to provide the account, with relevant order records retained separately where required. Enquiries are kept for the time needed to answer them and handle related follow-up or disputes. Security logs and analytics information are retained according to the operational need and the retention settings of the relevant service. We review retention and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed. Contact us for the period applicable to a particular record.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis used, you can request access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of use, or a portable copy of information. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You have an absolute right to object to use of your information for direct marketing, including related profiling.

Email sales@workshopstandard.co.uk to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month; any lawful extension or exception will be explained. We do not normally charge a fee. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or handle legal claims.

Complaints

Please contact us if you are concerned about how we use your information. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or telephone 0303 123 1113. You do not have to complain to us first.

Security and changes to this policy

We use appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. This policy may be updated when our services or data use change; the date above shows the latest revision.
