Refunds and Exchanges Policy
Returns, refunds and exchanges for Workshop Standard orders.
Last updated: 14 October 2026.
Our returns policy
We do not offer additional change-of-mind refunds beyond those required by law. We can arrange voluntary exchanges, subject to availability and agreement, with the buyer paying the return postage and the additional postage for the replacement. This does not affect your rights when goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not meet the contract, or your cancellation rights as a consumer buying online.
Contact us about a return or exchange
Email sales@workshopstandard.co.uk with your order number, the item concerned and whether you want to cancel, report a fault or request an exchange. For a problem with an item, explain what has happened; photographs can help us resolve it. You may use another clear statement to exercise your legal right to cancel, and do not need to give a reason or wait for approval.
Please contact us before posting an item so we can confirm the return arrangements. Our business address is: Stephen Coleman trading as Workshop Standard, 30b Shaftesbury Road, Southport, PR8 4PS, United Kingdom. Contacting us first helps us handle the return; it does not limit your legal rights. Package the goods securely and keep proof of posting.
Voluntary exchanges
If you have ordered the wrong size or would prefer another available item, contact us to discuss an exchange. For a voluntary exchange, the item must be unused and in a resaleable condition. Please include its original packaging where available. We will confirm availability, any price difference and the replacement postage charge before you agree to proceed. You pay both the postage to return the original item and the postage to send the replacement. These conditions apply only to voluntary exchanges, not to remedies for faulty goods or statutory cancellation.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods
Goods supplied to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their purpose and match their description. If this is not the case, contact us and we will provide the remedy required by law. You normally have 30 days from delivery to reject non-conforming goods for a refund. After that, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, and then a price reduction or refund if the problem cannot be resolved as required by law. Your rights do not end after 30 days.
We cover reasonable return costs for faulty or incorrect goods and the necessary costs of any repair or replacement. We will agree a suitable return method with you. We may ask for evidence of purchase, but you do not have to provide an original receipt or original packaging to exercise your legal rights. Damage caused by misuse or normal wear is not, by itself, a product defect.
Cancelling an online consumer order
If you buy as a consumer, you can usually cancel an online order from the time you place it until 14 days after you receive the goods. If one order is delivered in separate parts, the period normally starts after the last part arrives. Tell us clearly that you are cancelling within that period, then send the goods back within a further 14 days.
You pay the direct cost of returning goods when cancelling because you have changed your mind. If goods cannot normally be returned by post, any applicable return cost must be disclosed before purchase. You can examine goods as you would in a shop; if handling beyond what is necessary reduces their value, we may make a lawful deduction. There is no cancellation administration or restocking fee.
Made-to-specification items
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods genuinely made to your specifications or clearly personalised. We will identify any applicable exception before purchase. Choosing a standard size or listed length does not automatically make an item exempt. Rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods still apply.
How refunds are paid
For a statutory cancellation, we refund the price of the returned goods and, when you cancel the whole order, the basic outbound delivery charge. Any extra amount paid for premium delivery is not refundable under the cancellation rules. We refund without undue delay and within 14 days after receiving the goods back or evidence that you have sent them, whichever is earlier. We may withhold the refund until then unless we have offered to collect the goods.
For a faulty-goods refund, we refund without undue delay and within 14 days of agreeing that you are entitled to it. Refunds use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and we do not charge a refund fee. Your payment provider may take additional time to show the credit.
Business purchases
The consumer cooling-off right applies when you buy mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession. For business purchases, we do not offer change-of-mind refunds; voluntary exchanges may be agreed on the postage terms above. Contact us about any faulty or incorrect business order so we can resolve it under the applicable contract and law. Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
